January blues? NO!

Happy New Year!

We’ve had a busy couple of months here at Solent Students’ Union.

The Student Involvement team recently visited Bucks Students’ Union, to get ideas on improving our volunteering here at the SU. We will be bringing in new intitatives to help students identify the transferable skills gained through volunteering that they can take into graduate employment.

The RAG team at Solent continue to be busy. Last Tuesday, Ed Prosser cut his hair off after 7 years to raise money for the Little Princess Trust. This charity uses human hair to make wigs for children undergoing chemotherepy. Ed’s fantastic fundraising efforts of £260 take the RAG total to £1880 for the year!

Next month marks LGBT history month. We are planning to support this at Solent SU, so keep your eyes open for exciting things going on!

Take a Mate!

We are launching a campaign to encourage students and the local community in Southampton to think about their safety when travelling around the city on their own at night time.

MO-ving on up!

So Movember is over, and what fun we had!

George Bergel, at Project 4, captured our World Record Attempt for us in this cracking video. We didn’t manage to beat the record, but we did beat the current European Record with 494 men, and Solent RAG raised over £1000 for Prostate Cancer UK! :)

The Southampton community were lovely, really getting behind the project! So much so that we have even started discussing the event for next year!

The Solent Ravens, our in house cheerleading squad, provided some light entertainment for those at the Guildhall Square!
